Ariel, The Little Mermaid (Disney)

A colored version of this sketch.

I woke up this morning (er...afternoon) in a coloring mood, so here is the result. I really should have spent the time on one of my Prole drawings, but Ariel was calling out to me. Plus, I got to play around with water effects.

I love water.

I'm planning on getting back into watercolor within the week by the way. I've taken far too long of a break from it and the urge is back.

wowww this is beautiful. the soft, hazy effect and the bright blue against that muted red is really lovely and atmospheric. i love how this is a totally different approach than your original sketch (shading-wise), you used two different styles and pulled them both off so well! *envies*

Nice love the hairs reflection, and the texture on the fin.

Wow, her hair in this is really nice...floaty, light  Keeps all the feel of the original sketch, but looks softer somehow.

Your coloring always turns out so beautiful... :D What program did you use for this?

I kept going back and forth between Painter and Photoshop. I like Painter for the brushes and stroke sensitivity, but Photoshop really helps me experiment with interesting colors. I abuse the Curves and Levels features.

You've made Ariel your own. I like the colors and the technique you used to paint this, it has a dream like quality to it.
