I'm at 30 hours already and I've hardly advanced the story at all. I love the battle system and I'm actually having fun leveling up (never thought I'd say that about an rpg XD).

Oh, you really DID just start it. I've been playing for a few days and I'm exploring outside of Rabanastre, but it still feels like I'm near the beginning in terms of the story. I'm avoiding spoilers so I really don't know.

Haha yup, juuust started! I've tried to void spoilers too, so I've got no idea how the arc of the plots supposed to go...hope you have fun as you keep playing and yeah, definitely - I love the loose style, it's really great!

- yes, lack of uematsu reuined it for me. I mean, the music isnt BAD. But i was watching the making of for alien recently, and the guy who did the music said "the difference between a good soundtrack and a fantastic soundtrack is that with a fantastic soundtrack, the music stands strong on its own"

And ff12 just doesnt. I mean, not one single track is anything near even one single track from ff7. Pure fanboy devotion? Perhaps a touch but really, nothing even came across than more than just generic, background orchestral marching music.

(the is one exception to this - i did like the boss music, hehe)

- the script/speech is terrible. I'd never heard that harrison ford quote before but its spot on - how can you actually like characters that talk like that? How can you relate to it at all? I like playing FF games because its about adventure. I'm not going to have more respect for a game just because it uses words i rarely hear in everyday speech. Blrgh!

- my girlfriend got such a kick the other day when she watched the star wars films for the first time and realised the connection between wedge and biggs /random

I'd like to say the game gets better - i think it has its moments but I found it to be always confused as to whether it was trying to take it self seriously with all the pretentious talk, but then just intersperse it with stupid things

Why would a well-spoken, snotty princess wear a flourescent pink belt that short? Continuity plz! Suspension of belief deleted
