Legacy II by mollygrue Legacy II by mollygrue
shi painter oekaki made at OC

This is a second go at a theme I worked on a while back concerning Naruto's origins and how he is attached to his father's intentions. I think this is actually a strong theme for the entire series, the idea of the previous generation exerting it's influence on the younger and how one either reacts against or goes along with it. You can see examples of it in Gaara's story arch and in the ongoing Sasuke/Itachi dynamic.

I'm not sure that I like this version better or not. I think that they're just very different methods of telling the story.

This is INCREDIBLY sweet. I've been trying to find a picture like this recently and hadn't had any luck until now. I love everything about it, especially your coloring because it just sets the mood for it perfectly.

So glad you like it! This is one aspect of the series that could use more artists' attention.

This is a beautiful picture. I have to admit, though, that I've never seen an episode of Naruto before. When I first saw that pic I thought that it was Cloud from FFVII holding a baby (future love child with Tifa?) lol

I thought I commented on this? Oh well ...
So people still draw at OC, eh? I'mma hafta check it out more often ...
Your Naruto fanarts are always something special, this is giving me a strong Mary and baby Jesus vibe. And thank you, finally a picture in which Yondaime doesn't have his "faraway-look-and-distant-smile"-face. x__x This feels much more real, and present.

I don't think that people frequent OC as much as they did a few years ago, but I still like to use the program every now and then ^_^.

I love those old icons and I felt it was appropriate to reference them in some small way.

Thanks for looking!

Mmm, well, not to be obnoxious advertiser, but if ever you want a friendly oekaki place, take a peek at Ochiba.net ... where it's all at.

Not at all, I look at most of your art, I'm just not big in the commenting department. I'm here though ... stalking. o___o

I just spent about 10 minutes looking at it. It seems to be designed pretty well. I like that you can post comments on work within people's profiles rather than in a big oekaki stew. About how much traffic does the place get? And, is it alright for the casual 'kakier? Any pieces of advice if I do decide to register?

Well, it differs, right now it's a bit low traffick I guess due to peoples school stuff, but there's always some people hanging around (myself, I'm a constant fixture, pretty much), and you never have to worry about being ignored, I can tell you that much. Actually, there's probably more traffick than on OC these days, hehe.
Yah well, if you get an invite, you can come and go as you please, no pressure, and I'd be happy to give you one 'o those should you wish to join. Simplifies things, really ...
As for advice, I guess, participate! It's not mandatory but it's uh ... fun. :D

It's nice to see a different approach to the whole Naruto's origin matter. Many people just complain because he hesn't really an outcast (according to them) or are happy that he and the Fourth Hokage are related because they are Minato fans.

Personally, I think it's really interesting to see how the same action (sealing a bijuu inside a child) can be either evil (in the case of Gaara's father) or good (in Minato's case) when the motivations for it change.

Since you like the theme of the new generation vs old generation and how the latter influences the former, I bet you found interesting the Sarutobi Asuma character, too. ^^

I did! I'm excited to see how that particular story will unfold. Or, perhaps Kishimoto will leave it to us as viewers to fill in the blanks, given what we already know about these generational issues as he's described them.

I definitely like this version better - the other one looked kind of like the Yondaime was angry at Naruto.

I agree with you on the theme of the series, too. It's one of the reasons I love it so much, because there's a much more tangible past than in most anime and manga.

Heh, I can see how you might read that into his expression. Clearly, I didn't have very good control over my subject.

Thanks for your thoughts ^_^.
