ah, dear ophelia... you should draw hamlet, the bastard that he is. (if you liked the book, you should watch the movie with kenneth branagh. he plays the most lively hamlet!) :D
very lovely piece of art! you must have been lifedrawing tons, because your awesome knowledge of the 3D body really comes out in your pieces. I adore your style! I love how you -can- draw anime, yet your stuff is clearly not anime! ahhh *worship!* I am in love.

I think that that was the one that we watched in high school actually. And yes, I really do like Kenneth Branagh.

However, I can't quite stomach the thought of drawing Hamlet with any sort of sensitivity. For me, Ophelia has a personal significance. I just can't relate to Hamlet in the same way.

Thanks for your thoughts on my style. I think that it's pretty obvious where my influneces are if you're familiar with those influences, but it's so important to find a voice of your own and to not be held to the style of someone else. I love anime, but I don't want it to define who I am as an artist.

haha, you are quite right, I've gotten my dosage of hamlet from high school --just this year, actually. I am only sorry I haven't seen it sooner!

I really wish I could find my own voice--I am in the same standing with you on anime, only I can't seem to get away. what are your influences? I find your broad and daring brushstrokes ingenius; how you can imply shapes and such so deeply with a simple flick of a darker color her and there-- brilliancy!

by the by, if you like hamlet and haven't read The Picture of Dorian Gray yet, you should. it effected me more than hamlet, actually.. ooh, the characters are so smart. x]

Just a bit ^_~.

But, I'm actually not reading it. I have read it many times in the past though. I just really love Ophelia, so I like to come back to her now and then.

Yes, I noticed AFTF when looking through some of the older pieces... Ophelia is a very interesting and... touching character...

No actually. Not yet. I think that, because I grew up with the movie version and not the book (which I read much later), I'll just always have this image in my head of Molly that way. I would have to redefine her to draw her in my own way and feel like I was being true to my love of the character, movie and book.

That said, I do feel that there's a bit of Molly Grue in me.
