The final round of Senior announcements for 2009!
Artist's Comments
Ophelia is from William Shakespeare's play, Hamlet, which I both hate and love. As it turns out, I both hate and love Ophelia too. But, mostly love. She starts out as a complete innocent and gradually becomes beautiful and deranged with the knowledge of her role and her personal grief.
This may mean that I'll be taking a break from the savages and civis for a while. Whenever I get into an Ophelia mood, she tends to just take over and, since she's such a personal subject, I can't really deny her. We'll see though. Those other people are just as important to me. Just in a different way. Oh yes. And here is the original sketch that this piece came from: [link] Some other Ophelia works from a few years ago: [link] [link] |

I have this one Rasputina song called "Dig, Ophelia" which is about her (I believe.) Good stuff, Good stuff.
Your crosshatching is amazing, but it always is. Her face feels so ALIVE.

I've never heard that song before. In fact, I've never even heard of the band. But, I live in a hole ^_^;;;. What kind of sound do they have?
Hamlet is definitely worth a read, but I would suggest seeing the play. Or watching one of the movies. It tends to be easier to make sense of it all when it is performed. Which is typical of Shakespeare. Or any play really, for that matter.
I'll have that picture in my mind everytime ophelia turns up
Thanks. That means a lot ^____^.
I love Ophelia of course. Lady MacBeth (MacBeth), Viola (The Twelfth Night), the gravediggers (Hamlet), and Bottom (A Midsummer Night's Dream) are a few of my other favorites.
